Brahan Fishings
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen on the Brahan Fishings to purchase one rod in the late spring, in perpetuity.
In 2024, the week started on 13 May. The management charge for the rod/week in 2024 was £689.
The Brahan Fishings encompasses nearly six miles of double and single bank fishing. The fishings are split into three beats, each accommodating four rods, with rods rotating at the end of each day.
The five-year average for the week is 10.4 fish, however there was no fishing in 2020 due to the Covid restrictions in place at that time.
The Fishings
Upper Brahan
The Upper Brahan beat is single bank fishing and extends for approximately 2.5 miles from the Junction with the Blackwater tributary down to a point a few hundred metres upstream of the Orrin tributary.
Middle Brahan
Middle Brahan extends for approximately 1.1 miles and is mainly double banked with vehicle access to the North (left) bank. Lower Fairburn share the Aquarium and Kettle pools, the latter of which is fished on a half day rotation, but fishing for the rest of the beat is from both banks with access by boat to the South bank at the Ferry pool.
Lower Brahan
The Lower Brahan beat extends for approximately 2.2 miles in length starting below the Russian pool, running either side of Dunglass Island and ending at the railway bridge at Conon Bridge.
Each beat has a ghillie, boat and fishing hut. The huts are well equipped with heating and cooking facilities.
The Conon
The Conon is a hydro controlled river with three dams along its length. This ensures that no days are lost to a lack or an increase in water levels.
The Fishery Board operates an impressive hatchery operation, on a mitigation policy only, within the Blackwater catchment that joins the River Conon at the Junction Pool on Upper Brahan. This pool can be very productive.
Location
The fishings are a 30-minute drive northwest of Inverness, over the Kessock Bridge.
Guide Price
Offers in excess of £10,000 are sought for the rod.
