Burnmouth Fishings

The Burnmouth fishings extend for approximately 1/2 mile of double bank fishing with 9 named pools and are situated immediately below the Campsie Linn, the main temperature barrier of the river.

The beat fishes four bank rods. Two rods on each bank, and one boat for two rods.

Bank and boat tickets are priced and sold separately.

Burnmouth has only been light fished for the past few years and in the main only by the owners. It is now available to anglers wishing to fish from bank or from the boat.

Burnmouth sits directly upstream of the Stanley fishings and immediately downstream from Stobhall and Taymount.

The reported catches at Burnmouth are not a true indication of the potential of the beat, when considering booking Burnmouth, the catches above and below should be taken into account, as they will show the numbers of fish in the area.

If fish are being reported above and below, they will be at Burnmouth, after all they won’t be getting taxis or buses to get from Stanley Fishings to Stobhall and Taymount!!!

There is a highly experienced ghillie at Burnmouth and a well appointed fishing hut and car park.

The named pools on Burnmouth from the upstream boundary down are:

Left bank – Gutter Mouth, Saugh Bush, Westy and Otterstone

Right bank – Minisiters, Sands, Burnmouth Shot, Henry’s Hole and Woodside

The pools above all fish at different heights as folllows:

Low water pools  (below 3ft on the Ballathie guage)

Gutter Mouth, Ministers, Saugh Bush and Henry’s Hole

Medium water pools  (between 3ft and 6ft on the Ballathie guage)

Sands, Burnmouth Shot, Westy, Otterstone and Woodside

High water pools  (above 6ft on the Ballathie guage)

Sands, Burnmouth Shot, Westy, Henry’s Hole and Otterstone.
